Wow things have been busy, and tomorrow I'm off across the ditch to Sydney for the Sydney Biennale which is quite possibly the coolest festival of contemporary art. I'm hoping to catch as many of the events as I can and be inspired by all the amazing artists, with over 50 to choose its a bit like bliss! Many fabulous things have been happening, lots of new zippitydoodah creations including Rings! And gret news I'm going to be at the Auckland Art & Craft fair being held at the Auckland Art Gallery in july, but more about that when I get back, suitcase to pack, sketch book to find!

WOW May already....

Yikes its MayDay, 1st of May. I'm off to the Devonport Market tomorrow, 2nd May. This week I've really been working on how to display my creations to their best. I also wanted to show how you can wear a zippitydoodah in many many ways. So it was of to Shoot Photographic studios in Parnell for some photo time. Here are some little teases of what we have been working on....
I've also started a facebookpage for zippitydoodah, and there have been some new creations over on the www.wastenotwantknot.blogspot.com, so its been busy, busy , busy.

KraftBomb this Sunday , Going Owl Crazy

Hooray KraftBomb at the Community centre in Greylynn this Sunday. I'll be debuting my new improved display boards for my zippitydoodahs, plus a few new zippity shapes I've been stitching up from vintage zippers. Here's a little teaser of my Owl Zippityy and a Butterfly!

April Flowers

Believe it or not I have been busy making zippitydoodahs, but very slack about blogging about them. I have been lucky enough recently to get some fantastic vintage cloth tape zips, my favourites, although not the easiest to sew! I've been trying to work on some new flower shapes and utilise more green zips too. For the rest of the month I want to concentrate on making my stall at craft markets look better, so I'm working on ways to display zippities artfully!

Marching on....

With the change of seasons ( apparently its Autumn now - still feels like summer) I have been thinking about fashion changes. I'm predicting flowers will be really big as accessories this winter, so I've been working on ways to make my zippities bigger and brighter but still practical to wear.
We have also been busy with moving the photo studio from one location to another so not many opportunities to photograph new zippities ...yet, hopefully next week things will be more settled. This weekend I'm in the garden city for the Ellerslie Flower show,I'm taking my sketchbook ready for inspiration to hit me.

ZippityDooDah Valentine

Apologies I have been so busy making zippitydoodahs I haven't been posting! I have been concentrating on developing new flowers and new ideas, I love exercising my creative muscles!
FEB 14th Valentines Day is next week, here is my ZippityDooDah Valentine, I've listed it at www.zippitydoodah.felt.co.nz

A truly unique valentine from ZippityDooDah.

This little object de art unzips to reveal the beauty within.

"the sweetest flower that blows

I give you as we part

For you it is a rose

For me it is my heart." Frederick Peterson.

I have been thinking for weeks what would be the sweetest Zippitydoodah valentine, it had to be handmade and follow the philosophy of my zippitydoodah flowers, I was also thinking of word plays with "beautiful heart" and beauty on the inside, and here is the result.

A teeny purse unzips to reveal itself as a beautiful heart filled with zippitydoodah red roses. You could even add a teeny folded personal message to surprise the recipient.

I hope you like it as much as I do, you can keep it as a little object de art to remind you that beauty comes from within or if you prefer I can add a brooch pin so you can wear your heart on your sleeve or where-ever you like.

Size when zipped up = 6cm length x 3.7cm width

Size when unzipped = 6cm length x 7.2cm width

January Zippitydoodahs

December Craft shows were busier than I expected so I have been busy making new zippitydoodahs ready for the next craft show, hopefully Kraftbomb in February! I've been working at adding in more colours and also utilising some of the plastic coil zips which were not my favourites, but now are. MY latest idea is to combine different sized teeth tapes in one zippy, starting with fine teeth in the centre and working out to the chunky ones on the outside.  Its the school holidays so I'm also trying to balance "working" with time with the girls. More photos soon :-)
